Heather’s Post-Cancer Empowerment Photoshoot | Adriana Kopinja Photography Newton, MA and why all women deserve a beautiful portrait of themselves

Heather is more than just a client—she’s become part of the Adriana Kopinja Photography story.

We first met in 2019. Since then, Heather has stepped in front of my lens three times, including a beautiful boudoir session and her inspiring feature in last year’s Fabulous 40 Over 40 campaign. However, just one week after that session, Heather received life-altering news: a breast cancer diagnosis.

As a result, the past year brought surgeries, treatments, and challenges no one should have to face. Even though it was a difficult journey, Heather met every obstacle with grace and fierce determination. And now, exactly one year later, she returned—not just for a session, but for a celebration.

Because of this powerful milestone, we knew the session needed to be deeply meaningful. Together, we created a shoot that honored this new chapter in her life. First, we photographed Heather on my newest studio set to mark her return. Then, we stepped outside to capture light, summery looks that felt like freedom and ease.

Most importantly, Heather chose to show her scars and reclaim her body in a breathtaking boudoir series—raw, vulnerable, and bold. What’s more, every frame told a story of courage and self-love.

Heather’s courage to return, to stand tall, and to let herself be seen just as she is today is exactly why I do what I do. These portraits are more than images—they are a tribute to healing, survival, and transformation.

In the end, this session was not only about capturing beauty—it was about celebrating a woman who refused to let anything dim her light.

Heather, you are radiant. You are unstoppable. And it was my honor to photograph your story—again.
